First entry

Hello fellow gardeners,

I love growing plants – flowers, vegetables, orchids, roses, cacti, citrus trees, herbs, houseplants . . . but I’ve lived in southeast Texas (near Houston) for only a few years and am still trying to figure out how to make things grow here.

Any suggestions you can offer would be really appreciated. My current challenge is growing vegetables – tomatoes and sweet peppers. I’ve tried container growing the last couple years with very limited success, so this year I’m trying to garden in the ground in a tiny plot. I’ve bought the Wall ‘O Waters to get an early start, planted this year’s seeds just after New Year’s, bought the soil amendments, and plan to transplant around Valentine’s Day.

I’m attaching a few photos that I took today of my currently blooming orchids, my infant tomatoes and peppers, and one of my large cacti.

If anyone has any suggestions or comments, please feel free to drop me a line.
